In celebration of National Nurses Week, Sarah Bush Lincoln nurses are hosting a Wellness Health Fair from 9 to 11:30 am on Friday, May 10, at the Cross County Mall, Mattoon.
The public is invited to attend this free event, which features informational displays on various health issues such as cardiac care, diabetes, hospice care, physician services, influenza and breast screening information, as well as blood pressure checks. The nursing staff will be available to answer questions during the health fair. The event also features a free community Bingo game from 10 to 11 am.
Every year, National Nurses Week focuses attention on the diverse ways America’s 3.1 million registered nurses work to save lives and to improve the health of millions of individuals. The observance begins with R.N. Recognition Day on May 6 and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession.
Sarah Bush Lincoln employs approximately 350 nurses who work in a variety of settings and specialize in many different areas including inpatient, outpatient, emergency, obstetrics, pediatrics, surgery, gastroenterology, home health, and behavioral health to name a few. During this week-long celebration, Sarah Bush Lincoln is proud to recognize its nurses for their dedication, commitment, and tireless effort in providing compassionate patient care each and every day.
This year, the American Nurses Association (ANA) has selected “Delivering Quality and Innovation in Patient Care” as the theme for 2013. From bedside nursing in hospitals and long-term care facilities to the halls of research institutions, state legislatures, and Congress, the depth and breadth of the nursing profession is meeting the expanding healthcare needs of American society.
